I’m Christian, But I’m Not

Watch out about compromise!

The Devil will do everything he can to tempt you to forsake God’s way. And if he can’t get you to stop, he tries to get you to compromise. He tempts you with half-truths that make you doubt your convictions or not live up to them fully.

The most uncomfortable place in the world for anybody who loves the Lord, is to compromise between God and the world, God and the opinions of men! What people don’t realize is that if they hold one little thing back from the Lord, one little compromise, they’re on their way to backsliding! Because one little disobedience leads to another, one little refusal and denial leads to another, one bit of selfishness leads to more.

If you try to compromise and pull your punches and tone it down, then God’s Spirit tones the Voice of God down, and you don’t hear it so much any more. Truth resisted loses its power over the mind.

You can’t be on the fence — it’s too uncomfortable and dangerous and impossible! You’ll fall for one or the other — either for Jesus or the world! “Ye cannot serve two masters!” (Mt.6:24). There’s no such thing as hanging somewhere in-between, suspended between Heaven and Hell in some kind of compromiser’s limbo! Even a battery has only two poles, positive and negative, and you cannot get them together without fireworks! You’re either alive or dead, hot or cold! There’s no halfway, no in-between, no compromise!

And if you’re for Him, you are living for Him. You can’t say you’re for Him, but be neutral! “For he that gathereth not with Me” — gathering in His sheep into the fold, laboring diligently to bring in the Harvest — “he that gathereth not, scattereth abroad!” (Mt.12:30). So “choose ye this day whom ye will serve! If God be God, serve Him!”

The world is so much the opposite of everything Christians are to stand for and believe and practice that He says in His Word, “Friendship with the world is enmity with God! For what fellowship hath Christ with Belial and light with darkness? Come ye out from among them and be ye separate and touch not the unclean thing!” (Jam.4:4; 2Cor.6:14,15,17). So if you still hunger for fellowship with the world, there’s something wrong with you spiritually! Don’t compromise your convictions with the world! Don’t become a part of it, in spirit or otherwise!
